We spent a lot of time and resources designing, prototyping, and finally testing this part. We wanted to be under 9 grams for our aluminum main plate and we got less than 8.5 grams with a very strong 7075 aluminum plate cut in 3D dimensions. The idea with this specific plate is to be light, yet still retain enough structural rigidity to prevent the kind of plate failure on catastrophic impact that rips ESCs apart and starts fires. One of our demo Ravens was run over by a car and captured the video because the main plate was not damaged in the crash.
